Victorian Silver Mug 1853

An excellent Victorian silver mug.

The body is round, with a hand-chased matt background, which is intersperced with highly polished scroll and arrow motifs. There is a row of crowned and bearded mens' faces around the top. There is a tiny round vacant cartouche opposite the handle.

It has a beautifully formed scroll, leaf and bead handle, and it is gilded inside.

This is a fantastic mug, made in a very heavy gauge of silver, by an excellent maker. It would make the perfect gift to a boy or a man because it is very masculine in appearance.

This fine Victorian silver mug was made in 1853 by Robert Hennell III of London.
