Pair of Tall Silver Wine Coasters

A very good pair of silver wine coasters.

They are plain and bellied, with fine gadroon mounts. They have turned wood bases, and they are baised underneath.

The coasters have been made in a good gauge of silver and they are a little higher than average. Each is hallmarked and stamped with the Garrards address on the side. Wine coasters (often called decanter stands) were baised underneath so they could be 'coasted' around the wooden table. This pair are a good size, and so could comfortably take magnum bottles.

This excellent pair of silver wine coasters was made in Birmingham by Garrard & Co in 1971.
