Huge Oval Silver Bowl

A huge oval silver bowl.

The body is formed from vertical silver slats which are lightly engraved down each side. The slats are joined by a curved frieze of shaded leaves which runs along the body. It has a large gadroon mount across the top.

There is a frieze of pierced circles around the top and pierced ovals just above the base.

~Inside is a massive cranberry colour red glass liner.

This is a wonderful bowl with a very attractive design around the body. It would look absolutely fantastic in the centre of the table, filled with fruit. It is a quite striking piece.

This huge oval silver bowl was made in 1912 by D and J Wellby of London -- a firm well respected for their fine craftsmanship.
